On the left is Daniël and on the right, Ruben — brothers, lifelong adventure partners, and the founders of Hammock Haven. Growing up, we spent countless hours climbing trees and building huts in the forests of France, drawn to the outdoors from an early age. Over the years, our passion evolved into a mission to share the simplicity and joy of hammock camping, creating a space for others to discover nature in its purest form.

Our Story.

Ever since we were kids, we had a passion for the outdoors, spending our days climbing trees and building tree houses and huts in the forests of France during camping trips. This childhood love for nature laid the groundwork for our future adventures and ultimately, our business.

The pivotal moment came during Daniël's first solo trip. In a hostel, he met a fellow traveler from Puerto Rico who shared stories of camping in a hammock on the beach and even in palace gardens, only to be woken up by bewildered security. Captivated by the idea of hammock camping, Daniël ordered his first hammock and embarked on another trip to Trier, Germany, where the hammock became the highlight of his journey. Despite the rain and using an umbrella for cover, Daniël was hooked.

That summer, Daniël decided to elevate his hammock camping experience by upgrading to a hammock with a mosquito net. His dream of spending four days in the wild, waking up with the sunrise and sleeping with the sunset, going with nature's rhythm, came true on a trip to France.

A few months later, on a sunny Friday, Daniël and Ruben were strolling along a dock near Barcelona, discussing the incredible potential of hammock excursions. We imagined teaching others the joys and techniques of hammock camping, sharing the passion we had discovered through our adventures.

The turning point was a simple yet profound question Daniël encountered in a YouTube video: "What's the one thing you would do if money wasn't an object?" Without hesitation, his answer was clear – hammock trips. He immediately shared this with Ruben, who was equally excited. "Why wait?" Daniël texted. "We can start brainstorming now and take our time to build something amazing." Ruben's enthusiastic response sealed the deal: "I say heck yeah. I've been thinking about this all weekend too."

And so, our journey began. We dedicated ourselves to creating an epic adventure company focused on teaching people how to hammock camp. Our mission is to share our love for the outdoors and make hammocks the centerpiece of unforgettable experiences. Through our business, we aim to inspire others to connect with nature, embrace the simplicity and joy of hammock camping, and create their own epic adventures.
